Happy Belated Halloween!

So what did YOU do for Halloween?  My kids and I went to my parent's house for Halloween dinner.  My Mom makes brains, bat wings, ghost poop, zombie barf - the good kind of Halloween food!  The kids didn't carve pumpkins yet so I had them bring them with us (my folks live on a farm and have free-range chickens so I thought no one would mind a little mess!)  I gutted the pumpkins for them and we tossed the guts on the lawn for the chickens.  They love Halloween!

The kids had fun carving their pumpkins...my son watched The Food Network Pumpkin Carving Contest and while he didn't get to do anything he wanted (limited carving supplies at Grandma and Grandpa's house!) we did let him cut a hole in the back and stick our fog machine in it.  It turned out very cool but sadly, I didn't get a picture of that.  =(

Then we rushed home and I had the privilege of hosting ten 11 & 12-year olds!  They came over at 5:30 (trust me, the noise was unreal!) and were so excited they didn't eat a bit of the massive Halloween buffet I prepared for them before they went out trick-or-treating at 6:00 p.m.  This was the first time they went alone through the neighborhood without a parent tagging along.  What a big step for them (and me!)!  My son's the metallic red faced person.

What a fun night they had!  They came back to our house at 8:00 p.m., ate a bunch of food, dumped their bags on the floor and did some massive candy trading.  It ended up being such a wonderful night with wonderful friends!

Now Christmas carols are playing....I LOVE IT!
